I am very happy with my 602 SR kit. I blind filled the wall cavity between the interior plaster and exterior brick walls of my 1910 house. I had concerns about the plaster cracking, but I did not have a single crack. Amazing!

Prior to ordering, I called your help line to ask whether I should get closed or open cell. Initially, I was drawn to the open cell for the cost/yield ratio, but the person I spoke with told me how open cell could hold water and would not be a vapor barrier. She recommended closed cell which would prevent condensation inside the walls. Plus, it has a higher R-value. I appreciated her knowledgeable answer and ordered my kit on the same call.

I am fortunate in that my house has balloon framing, so I did not have to drill every stud bay. Also, I am replacing the windows in this room so I was able to drill through the window jams and sills to insert tubing into the walls. I was also able to take advantage of a fixed shelf on one wall by removing it, drilling access holes into the cavity (where the shelf was attached to the wall), then replacing the shelf. In all, I only have ONE visible hole in the wall from the first tier of insulation. For the second tier, I am going to drill further up the window jams, drill holes behind pictures, and drill behind surround sound speakers. I will, of course, patch the holes behind the pictures and speakers, but the painting does not need to be done right away. I anticipate only one more visible hole.

Attached is a shot of my prep work for the first tier. It's really all about the prep. I spent about 4 hours drilling holes, feeding tube, laying drop clothes, etc. The spraying (well, filling) was really the easiest part. It took less than 30 minutes for the first tier. Tomorrow (when I rip out windows), I will fill the rest of the wall.

I would like to suggest two tips to your customers that I found to be extremely helpful:

1.) I used 7/16 x 5/16 tubing (as you suggested, thanks!). For each hole, I cut the tubing to the appropriate length, then put an electricians fishtape into the tubing to help me fish it to the bottom of the wall. I loaded up all my holes with tubing and fitted & taped a nozzle into each tube before I started any spraying, which made things go very smoothly and cleanly. As I filled each hole, I popped off the spent nozzle and clicked on the next nozzle.

2.) I drilled 3/4" holes for the tubing. After filling the first tier holes I put wine corks into the holes to prevent the foam from spilling out. The results were amazing. No mess and the foam expanded further up the cavity (it's very easy to tell my knocking on the wall). Just make sure you have holes drilled further up the wall to relieve the air pressure. The wine corks could be pushed in and provided the perfect backing for spackling.

Thanks for making such great products! This is my third kit. I used a 602 & 202 (closed cell) on my basement walls last year before we finished it. It's very comfy down there now. I would love to be able to fill the walls in the rest of the house, especially, the nursery for the baby we are expecting in the Fall.
