I purchased the Foam-It-Green #602 Antimicrobial Formula back in November of 2011. Between weather issues, prep of crawl space and my two work schedules, I finally did the spraying last Wednesday.
Admittedly, I was a little nervous about a lot of factors. First, my crawl space height varies from 8"-16" and the access opening is 14"x 21". Tight just doesn't even describe the confining area. I read and re-read all the application info and watched videos so I felt "comfortable using this product in an uncomfortable space.
Set up was easy, every step followed precisely and application went wonderful. It was so much fun to spray. I had envisioned much worse snow effect...there was a point of pressure on the trigger that I found where snow was at a minimum, the foam spraying was best and my back and forth moving of the wand was let's say a moderate speed.
In areas so tight I didn't fit, I stretched my arm as far as I could and applied 80-100% trigger pressure to launch the foam a good 3'-4' I was simply amazed at the pressure and reaching capacity of this product. I did the vertical block from the under surface of the floor boards down to the dirt, but not into the dirt. I am so anxious to see if this will help keep my kitchen floors "warmer in cold temps and my water lines from freezing in the kitchen as well.
Yesterday I went back under to double stuff the foam insulated joist areas with the fiberglass insulation that I removed before spraying. Now this process was not fun. There are aggressive groundhogs in our area, and they burrow under my foundation and live in the crawl space during winter months...they have a field day with the fiberglass insulation and frankly I am sick of having to go back in and re-stapling in place one season after another. So, I took rolled fencing and stapled it to the bottom of the joists...even if they crawl up into this fiberglass, they won't be tearing it all down and out. I am seriously considering digging 4' deep trenches around my foundation and putting wire fence in, so when they dig they hit fence and would just go somewhere else.
