This is a quick and easy project that normally can be done with just a Foam it 202. The savings can be amazing because you're sealing the gaps where your home meets the foundation.
Rim Joist Project with Lauren & Ashley from SprayFoamDirect on Vimeo.
If you want, tape off the studs with painter's tape so you can easily pull off the tape later and have clean studs ready for sheetrock.
Use a drop cloth on the floor to protect areas from any falling "snow" (foam particles)
Spray on Foam it Green so it rises to an inch or two in each cavity. Move to the next cavity and repeat. Typically for filling stud bays, the fan spray tips help broaden the spray so the foam goes on fast and about the width of the cavity.
Once all the stud bays are full with the initial coat, make sure it's cured.
If they have, repeat the process, building upon the previous inch an inch or two at a time.
"I used your Spray Foam Product on my basement walls and within the rim joists. I couldn't believe how easy this was to use. I took me about 1 hour to finish 175 linear feet of space. That's a fraction of the time it would have taken me if I used rolled up batt insulation.
I received the biggest compliment on the temperature of my basement just this past weekend. A neighbor and I were completing our basements at the same time. He, a former construction contractor, commented on how much warmer my basement was than his. He asked me what kind of insulation I used and when I told him, he was surprised of the effectiveness and warmth it provided. He used styrofoam boards for insulation and in his words, didn't come close to the effectiveness of spray on foam. From a former contractor's mouth, that's quite the compliment."

"I received my kit by UPS 3 days after I ordered. I was very nervous about using the product but after I started I found out how easy it was to use. I have TJI floor joist system and I built my house 8 years ago. With TJI joists the rim is very dense and stays cold in winter. If there is any humidity in the basement you get moisture. With a new tight house you have humidity. This is the only product to properly insulate the rim joist in this application. Anyway, I started taking down the batt insulation at 2pm, my house is 50 feet long so I had 2 runs of 50 feet. I started foaming at 1:45 and was finished at 3:30pm. I started in a store room to get it down first and ended in the family room. With an old rag in hand I did not drip once on the floor, even though my wife prepared the family room floor with old sheets. I will recommend your product to everyone. Thanks, Very satisfied customer."
