What’s the difference between fast rise and slow rise spray foam?

Fast rise spray foam (or standard rise foam, as we refer to it) is designed to spray just about any open surface you can see, including walls, under floors, rim joists, attic floors, and the underside of the roof.

Slow rise foam expands at a slower rate than the fast rising foam, and is designed to fill existing walls where the drywall or plaster is already in place. Slow rise foam is fed into the void via a length of flexible tubing affixed to the mixing nozzle on the spray gun, and uses gravity to help it get to the lowest point in the wall before it starts to expand. This video shown at right will show you how the slow rise foam is fed into an existing wall.
