Three Cheers For The Red, White, Blue… And Green!
What’s more American than good old fashioned ingenuity?
Getting something done yourself, particularly that saves your family money, can be very rewarding. So, got a few free hours over your 4th Of July Weekend?
These 4 projects are quick and easy, and can have you celebrating independence from high utility bills!
Here are your “4 on the 4th” - Easy Weekend Projects!
1. Rim Joists
The rim joist, where your foundation meets the sub-floor, is often left uninsulated by builders. And that is a big problem.
Damp, outside air comes in through the rim joists and then travels up to through the substrate. It leaves your floors cold in the winter, and can lead to moisture problems in the summer.
Luckily it only takes 1 inch of closed cell foam to stop the air leakage and resist moisture penetration.
2. Garage Ceiling
So many houses these days have living space over a garage.
It’s a great way to conserve space, but it can bring outside temperatures, noises, and odors into your home.
Fiberglass can’t stop these problems because it can’t stop air leakage, but spray foam can.
Starting with just 1 inch of foam you can stop the air leakage and finally feel like you live in a home and not above an auto mechanic.
3. Metal Building
If you have a metal shop you already know how hot they can get in the summer. Plus, they aren’t just hot, metal buildings are also prone to condensation.
Luckily you can apply 1 inch of closed cell foam and get moisture resistance and an R-Value of 7.
4. Statue Of Liberty
Yes, you read that right! Spray foam is a trusty tool of Hollywood set designers because it is durable, easy to apply, easy to sculpt, and easy to paint.
You can work wonders with wood framing, chicken wire, spray foam, and an artistic vision.
So, what project would you like to do this holiday weekend?
