How Should I Dispose Of My Kit After I’m Done?
Q: How should I dispose of my kit after I’m done?
A: After you’ve completed your Foam It Green project, it’s super easy to dispose of your kits. All you have to do is follow a few easy steps.
After you’re done with your insulation project, the first step is to spray out any remaining chemical in the tanks into a waste container.
Once the tanks are empty you are going to turn them upside down. With the tanks upside down, slowly open the valves and let the pressure escape. Leave the tanks upside down with the valves open for at least 24 hours.
After the 24 hours are up, all you have to do is tap out the pressure relief valve to prevent re-use. The pressure relief valve is the round metal disk found on the top of the tank, near where the handle is. You can tap it out with a hammer or with a hammer and screwdriver.
Make sure you only puncture the pressure relief valve after all pressure has been released from the tanks.
Then, all you have left to do is dispose of the depressurized, empty tanks as ordinary industrial waste. You may want to check with your City Department of Public Works or local Steel Recycling Plant for more information.
