3 Things Your Spray Foam Contractor Isn't Telling You

1) You'll Have To Leave Home

Quite simply, professional spray foam contractors (who spray from the big rig trucks) use high pressure systems. High pressure systems create a high amount of chemical residue in the air. Because the residue requires extensive time to settle, an honest spray foam contractor needs to tell you upfront that you and your family can’t be present for the installation, PLUS you can’t return for 23-72 hours afterward depending on the chemical manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions.

Many contractors simply don’t mention this, so if you don’t ask, you don’t know. Your safety is important. A contractor who doesn’t disclose this important information should be immediately disqualified.

Foam it Green uses low-pressure systems so you can be back in as little as an hour after spraying.

2)
Not All Contractors Are Created Equal

Finding a contractor who will not just spray, but spray properly, cleanly, and honestly, can be a challenge. Spray foam insulation (when sprayed properly) completely seals out air, resulting in a high, long-lasting r-value. However, if your contractor is sloppy and doesn't spray smoothly to fill corners, seal gaps, and prevent overspray, then you aren't really getting the full value of the foam. Additionally, sometimes contractors have been known to spray open cell foam when they should be spraying closed cell, unbeknownst to the unsuspecting homeowner.

Expect to spend a couple of hours online checking out all sorts of references from Angie’s List, to the BBB, to digging into Google to find out what this person has been up to and what issues their clients run into. Additionally, you'll want to make sure your contractor has the proper licensing and registration. Your local Better Business Bureau can provide this information for you.

Foam it Green puts you in charge, so the job is done perfectly to your liking.

3) Not all Foams are Created Equal

Most spray foams are not ASTM G-21 mold resistant and not all are E-84 rated fire retardant. Plus, if the chemicals aren't mixing properly as they are being sprayed, they won't cure properly, and won't provide effective insulation. Because most foams are tan in color whether they are sprayed correctly or incorrectly, you have no way of knowing how well it has been applied. This can be a wasteful mistake.

Foam it Green standard closed cell foams are all mold and mildew resistant and fire retardant. And, Foam it Green's distinguishing light green color shows you right away that the chemicals have mixed correctly.

With Foam it Green, you effectively avoid all of these missteps, and can be done foaming and saving money before a contractor can even get their first bid submitted.
